We provide a training programme aimed at members of an organisation who are to form the team of investigators, who will have the responsibility for conducting investigations in the event that a complaint is made in relation to bullying, harassment or sexual harassment. It is therefore necessary to train these persons on the following areas:
- Equality legislation as it relates to discrimination, bullying, harassment and sexual harassment
- Health and safety legislation as it relates to bullying
- The company’s current policies in these areas
- How to conduct a thorough investigation
- How to conduct interviews during the investigation process
- How to prepare a report of findings of the investigation
The workshop will provide:
- An overview of equality legislation in relation to bullying, sexual harassment and harassment
- An outline of Code of Practice on Sexual Harassment and Harassment at Work
- An overview of health and safety legislation in relation to bullying
- An outline of two Codes of Practice on Bullying in the Workplace
- An overview of company policies in relation to bullying, sexual harassment and harassment
- Updates on recent case law in these areas and lessons learned from the investigations conducted in these cases
- An overview of the investigation procedure including an investigation checklist
- How to conduct an investigation interview, questioning techniques, note taking
- Gathering information, writing interview notes, witness statements
- The report writing process, summarising findings, highlighting key issues, reporting on findings of investigation.
The course places a high deal of emphasis on skills building during the training, in order to provide participants with the opportunity to learn the skills that they will be required to use in the event of handling an investigation. Contact us for more details.
